Your full name as it was given at birth, in Latin letters, and the day you were born. Nothing else.

Your numbers, calculated

Each part of your name and each part of your date is reduced on its own, 11, 22 and 33 are kept whole, and Y is read by its place in the word. Every step is written out in your book.

The one who takes care

People bring you things that are broken, including themselves. You have an instinct for what a person or a room or a situation needs in order to be well, and a hard time walking past it once you have seen it. Homes tend to form around you. So do obligations.

The cost is the account you keep without meaning to. A 6 gives, and gives, and then one day is furious that nobody noticed, and the fury is real even though the giving was freely offered. The work of this path is to care for yourself with the same attention you give everyone else, and to let people help you badly rather than not at all.

A gift for the whole

Your name adds up to breadth. You carry compassion, an artist's or idealist's sense of what could be, and an impatience with pettiness that can look, from a distance, like aloofness. You are moved by large things: justice, beauty, the fate of people you will never meet.

In work this favours the helping and the widening professions: medicine, teaching, the arts, advocacy, any role that serves more than one person's interest. You finish things well and let them go. The letters also carry a difficulty with the small and near, and the 9 is often better with a crowd than with the person sitting closest.

The cycle closes. A 9 year tends to bring endings: things finished, people released, rooms cleared. It can feel like loss and is better read as making space, since a 1 year follows and needs it.

One part at a time

We reduce your birth month, day and year separately, then add them. For name numbers, we reduce each part of your name before combining it. The calculation under each core number shows your own steps.

Some numbers stay whole

We stop reducing at 11, 22 and 33. These are traditionally called master numbers. Personal Years are the exception: every step reduces to a number from 1 to 9.

A little care with Y

Y counts as a vowel when a name part has no A, E, I, O or U, or when Y sits between two consonants. Otherwise it is a consonant. Accents are folded into Latin letters: ø becomes O, æ becomes AE and ß becomes SS.

Tradition, with perspective

Intermediate totals of 13, 14, 16 or 19 are called karmic debt in this tradition. The term describes symbolic themes, not an actual debt or a judgement about your life.

Before you begin

Which name to use, why numbers differ between sites, and what the tradition can and cannot tell you.

Which name should I use?

Use your full name as recorded at birth, including middle names. Enter it in Latin letters. Spaces and punctuation separate name parts, and accents are converted using the method explained above.

What if I changed my name?

This reading uses your name at birth as a consistent starting point. A later name can be explored separately, but it will give different name numbers. Your birth date numbers stay the same.

Why is my number different on another site?

Methods differ. We reduce each date component and each name part separately, preserve 11, 22 and 33 for core numbers, and treat Y according to its position. A site that adds every digit in one step may reach a different result. You can inspect every step here.

Is numerology a science?

No. Numerology is a symbolic tradition without a scientific basis for describing personality or predicting events. We offer it as a way to reflect, not as evidence or a guide for important decisions.

What do master numbers mean?

In this tradition, 11, 22 and 33 carry additional symbolic themes, so we keep them whole when reducing core numbers. They do not make a person better, more gifted or more important. Personal Years always reduce to 1 through 9.
